2020 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Awards Winner
Nicole Snyder Interiors is pleased to announce the American Library Association (ALA) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has honored The Community Library as a winner of the 2020 Library Interior Design Awards. The biennial competition honors excellence in library interior design and promotes examples of extraordinary design reflected through innovative concepts.
The design team eloquently addressed three key challenges of the Re-Imagining of the Library: Innovative and practical design elements created cohesion throughout what had been a patchwork of spaces. Contemporary materials and motifs were balanced with historic elements to honor the Library’s iconic heritage while also celebrating a spirit of innovation and new ways of learning. Furnishings and creative configurations supported ongoing flexibility and prioritized accessibility, diversity, and inclusion.
“When libraries are designed in novel and accessible ways, they become vital parts of their communities,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA.
“The winning projects embraced the needs of their communities with delight and are the best examples of outstanding design. They will continue to serve their communities and become valued symbols of excellence for years to come,” noted Joseph A. Rondinelli, Principal, DesignThink Consulting, member of the review committee.
